Sex Offender Registration

Cincinnati Sex Offender Registry Lawyer

Understanding the Consequences of a Sex Crime Conviction

A conviction for a sex crime has significant, life-affecting penalties. In addition to jail or prison time, you will be required to register on the sex offender registry list, hurting your chances of getting a job and preventing you from living in certain places.

If you are accused of a sexual offense, consult an experienced criminal defense attorney immediately ¾ even if you have not been officially charged. Obtaining early legal counsel can greatly benefit your case and can decrease the likelihood of conviction.

Fox & Scott, PLLC is an experienced criminal law firm located in Covington, Kentucky. We represent people accused of rape, molestation, inappropriate touching and other sex crimes throughout Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati. We can help protect your future.

Residency Restrictions and Required Registration

Both Ohio and Kentucky have strict rules regarding residency registration for convicted sex offenders. The criminal defense attorneys at Fox & Scott, PLLC take a direct role in explaining these consequences in relation to your sex crime charge. We set realistic expectations so you know exactly what you are up against.

Residency Registration in Ohio

Sex offenders need to register within 3 days of changing an address or county. They need to register anywhere from once a year to every 90 days, depending on their sex offender category.

Ohio law requires that local law enforcement send out a written notice to anyone living within 1000 feet of a convicted sex offender. Teachers, school principals, superintendents and other educators also receive this notice.

Residency Registration in Kentucky

Kentucky law requires that convicted sex offenders register on or before the date of release, and no later than 5 working days from a change of address.

Addresses are verified every 90 days for lifetime registrants and annually for all others.
